Gary Wiren “Flexibility Increases Clubhead Speed”

Strength training is an important part of being able to hit a golf ball for distance. Equally important is swinging the golf club faster, and this requires flexibility. The trunk, shoulders, hips and back all need to be limber to whip the club around. One training device endorsed by PGA Champion V.J. Singh and pitched by Gary Wiren of Golf Around the World is the Speed Stick which purports to help achieve the kind of conditioning needed to increase your club head speed and thus get greater distance on your shots. Along with a simple gauge for approximating swing speed, the Speed Stick is used to repeatedly swing on a plane well above the ground, to wind and unwind the torso and thus loosen up the trunk to hit longer shots.

We totally endorse exercise drill recommended by Gary Wiren but clearly the results will be much better if one is actually swinging a golf club. Also, the swing plane used with the Speed Stick is drastically different than that of an actual golf club swing. The Swing Speed Work-out with the ShotWatch™ will help limber you up, groove your real world golf swing and calibrate your swing speed while displaying it digitally on your wrist.
